Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc Resigns

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc resigned on Tuesday. Various Vietnamese media have announced this after days of rumours that he was about to take a step back.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc “resigned from his posts, quit his job and retired,” the state agency VNA said.

Phuc, 68, President from 2016-2021, has been in a largely ceremonial position of President for no more than two years.
