The state of emergency declared in Japan because of the coronavirus has been lifted across the country.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said this on Monday, stating that Japan has managed to control the spread of the virus within two months.
He said the government has made very stringent requirements for lifting the exception and those requirements have been met.
The country has 126 million inhabitants and is the third-largest economy in the world.
Compared to other countries in the region, it has been relatively mildly affected by the virus that first appeared in China.
16,600 infections have been identified, and approximately 840 patients have not survived.
