Suspect Driving to Death Pedestrians Trier Talks to Police

The motorist who hit pedestrians in Trier, Germany, talks to the police. This confirmed a police spokesperson, who could not yet go into detail about what statement the suspect has made.

 

At least five people were killed and fourteen injured in Trier on Tuesday when the man tore through a pedestrian zone.

Police arrested the driver about four minutes after the emergency number was first called. One of the deceased victims is a baby.

The driver is from the area and is 51 years old. Justice does not rule out that psychiatric problems played a role.

The German was under the influence of alcohol. The authorities have no evidence yet that he had political or religious motives.
