‘Samsung Buys the Idea of Camera lenses with a large zoom Range.’ Samsung buys the Israeli company Corephotonics, which specialises in the development of mobile camera lenses with a large zoom range.
According to the reports, the takeover was confirmed by insiders. Samsung would pay around 117 million pounds for the company.
Corephotonics develops camera systems with zoom functions for mobile devices.
The company states that it has developed a camera module that can be zoomed in 25 times.
Previously Corephotonics formed with the Chinese phone maker Oppo on a camera with five times optical zoom.
Samsung and Corephotonics did not respond to the message.
The Israeli company was founded in 2012 and now holds around 150 patents.
Corephotonics filed claims against Apple, partly because of alleged abuse of patents.
It would be the technique in the dual cameras of the iPhone 7 Plus,
iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X. It is still to know what the outcome of those things is.
