
Salah Abdeslam tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. French media reported this on Tuesday evening. Abdeslam is the sole survivor of the IS command group responsible for Paris’s November 13, 2015 attacks.
His corona infection could impact the resumption of the trial, which is scheduled for January 4.
Although Abdeslam is in solitary confinement in the prison of Fleury-Mérogis, near Paris, he tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday, Franceinfo and Le Parisien write. There would be an outbreak of the coronavirus in prison. New corona tests will be carried out in the coming days.
The trial is due to resume on Monday. However, if Abdeslam is still infected on the eve of the resumption, his lawyers can request a postponement. A hearing from Abdeslam is scheduled for January 13.
