The Russian government extends the travel ban for foreigners until further notice, Prime Minister Mikhail Misyustin announced on Wednesday.
Russia took the measure in mid-March to stem the spread of the new coronavirus in the country.
Mishustin announced at a meeting of officials to discuss measures against the corona pandemic.
The number of infections in Russia is increasing rapidly and is approaching one hundred thousand. Almost a thousand Russians have also died with the new coronavirus.
There are some exceptions to the entry ban, for example, for foreign specialists who have to maintain imported equipment. According to the prime minister, this is necessary to keep companies running that produce the resources needed to fight the coronavirus.
President Vladimir Putin warned the Russians on Tuesday that the peak of the virus outbreak has not yet been reached and extended the lockdown measures by two weeks.
In a video conference with regional governors, Putin said he has managed to slow the spread of the lung virus, stressing that this should not reassure them yet.
