The eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv is under constant Russian fire, says the mayor of the country’s second city.
So far, according to Ihor Terechov, 48 schools have been destroyed. That information could not be independently verified.
Before the Russian invasion, which began on February 24, the city had about 1.4 million inhabitants. In recent days, Ukraine and Russia have agreed on civilian escape routes at several cities, including Kharkiv.
It is unclear how many people have been evacuated from the city via these so-called humanitarian corridors.
