Japan’s Emperor Naruhito has officially opened the Tokyo Olympics.
Naruhito (61) did so from the grandstand in the almost empty Olympic Stadium, after which the fireworks shot through the sky in Tokyo again.
President Thomas Bach of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and chairman Seiko Hashimoto of the Japanese organizing committee had given a speech just before.
