A seven-storey former factory collapsed in central Sydney after an earlier fire broke out on Thursday.
The fire broke out on the third floor of the former factory, which was to be converted into a hotel.
More than 120 firefighters battled the blaze but could not prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent residential buildings. As a result, the thick black smoke could be seen almost everywhere in the city.
The fire is now under control. More than 50 people were evacuated from the building, which is officially empty but used by people experiencing homelessness, according to 9News.
