
Russian attacks in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv killed 53 civilians on Wednesday, the regional governor said. Among them are some children. The victims fell, among other things, when an apartment building was bombed.
Ten civilians are also said to have been shot while queuing for bread.
Russia has said its military personnel were not in the city and claimed the Ukrainian troops carried out the attack or a ruse by Ukrainian intelligence.
“We are suffering heavy losses,” said Governor Vyacheslav Tsjaus. Russian troops attempt to take Chernihiv. The encircled city has been dealing with heavy attacks for days.
