German authorities reported 7,141 new corona infections on Monday. According to the Robert Koch Institute, another 214 patients died of the virus, the German counterpart of the RIVM.
That made it known last weekend that more than a million people have now received a corona vaccine’s first dose.
In the country with 83 million inhabitants, more than 2 million infections have been diagnosed. The death toll from the pandemic now stands at 46,633.
The authorities have instituted a lockdown to prevent further spread of the virus.
Tens of thousands of Germans are also vaccinated every day with corona vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. People should be given these drugs twice to get maximum protection.
About 1.26 percent of the German population had already had the first injection on Saturday.
