German Chancellor Olaf Scholz tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday.
According to his spokesperson, he has mild cold complaints and went into isolation immediately after hearing the test result.
Scholz, 64, was in New York last week for the plenary debate of the United Nations General Assembly. Then he visited the Gulf States.
The head of government returned home on Sunday. Before his trip to the Gulf States, he was said to have tested negative and again on Sunday, government sources report.
