Gas Explosion in Eastern Slovakia Claims Eleven Lives

Eleven people were killed by a gas explosion Friday in an apartment building in the city of Presov in eastern Slovakia. Also, dozens of people were injured in the explosion.

 

The death toll from the explosion was five on Friday. Police reported on Saturday that the death toll had been incurred by the discovery of another six bodies in the twelve-story building.

The authorities have no indications that people are still missing.

 

After the explosion, the complex caught fire. About a hundred firefighters were extinguishing the fire until Saturday morning.

No statements were made about the cause of the explosion.
