French President Emmanuel Macron received a booster shot against the coronavirus last weekend. Macron wrote on Twitter that he also had a flu shot.

France announced last Thursday that a booster shot is mandatory to keep the corona ticket valid. After that, all adults over the age of 18 could register directly. That led to 1.2 million vaccination appointments within 24 hours.

The additional vaccination against the coronavirus can be obtained five months after the previous shot in France, a month earlier than in most other countries.

For people aged 65 and over, the booster is mandatory from December 15 to keep the ticket valid; for the rest of the French population, it will come into effect on January 15. If less than five months have passed since the last vaccination, the corona ticket remains valid.
