Police in the US state of Florida has arrested a 10-year-old for text messages threatening to cause a massacre at his school. It was supposed to be a joke, but the police couldn’t laugh at it.

The messages of the student of the Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral, in southeastern Florida, were discovered Saturday. Police questioned Daniel Issac Marquez and then arrested the boy.

“This student’s behaviour is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

“This is not the time to act like a petty delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made false threats, but he is now experiencing the real following.”
