The Croatian doctor’s association HUBOL sounded the alarm on Sunday about the high pressure on hospitals by seriously ill corona patients.
“The healthcare system in Croatia no longer exists,” the association wrote in a statement.
At the same time, the doctors’ association also lashed out hard at the government. While corona patients have to wait for hours for a free bed, government officials treat the problem like arrogant, narcissistic teenagers.
There are currently 1,418 corona patients in Croatian hospitals, 170 of whom need ventilation.
According to the leading Johns Hopkins University, the seven-day incidence has risen sharply to 587.9 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past two weeks.
Just over half (52.6 percent) of Croats have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
