A daughter of the late South African President Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 59. That has a spokesman for government party ANC announced.
According to the broadcaster SABC, Zindzi Mandela died in a hospital in Johannesburg, the cause of death is still unknown.
Zindzi Mandela was the daughter of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and became known when she read a statement by her father in 1985.
He stated the conditions for his freedom of President P.W. Botha turned down. Zindzi Mandela was the South African ambassador to Denmark.
“She still had an important role in our society and within our party,” said the party spokesperson.
