China Objects to the Statement by the United States Department

China objects to the statement by the United States Department of State in which the US rejects China’s claims in the South China Sea.

 

The Chinese also call the US accusation of bullying their neighbours “completely groundless”.

“The United States is not directly involved in these disputes, but the country continues to interfere in this matter,” the Chinese Embassy in the US said in a statement.

“Under the guise of protecting stability, it shows its muscles, increases tension and elicits confrontations in the region.”

The US on Monday rejected China’s ‘offshore’ claims in most of the South China Sea.

“Beijing’s claims to resources in most of the South China Sea are completely unlawful, as is the bullying policy of enforcing those claims,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
