From September, some 32 million residents in the United Kingdom will be able to receive a third dose of a corona vaccine. That reports the British newspaper The Telegraph.
To date, the full vaccination schedule in the UK consists of two vaccine doses.
However, due to the spread of the more contagious delta variant and the expected decline in vaccine effectiveness over time, a third dose is being considered in many countries.
About half of the British could already be eligible for such a new, third shot on September 6. But, according to The Telegraph, 2.5 million new doses would then be administered per week.
In Germany, too, there are plans to offer a booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine to the elderly and vulnerable people from September 1.
