The coronavirus continues to spread in the United States. A record number of 142,279 new corona infections was registered in the country on Wednesday.
It is the eighth day in a row that more than 100,000 new corona cases have been identified in the US, Reuters news agency calculated.
The death toll rose by 1,464.
About 10.4 million infections and nearly 242,000 deaths have been reported in the US since the start of the pandemic.
The country is thus leading the list of countries that have been most affected by the virus according to official figures.
In the US, there are now a record number of corona patients in hospitals. It concerns almost 65,000 people, the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
